Daily Diary Persistent rain and strengthening winds arrived overnight, as Storm Francis swept across the UK. By morning, skies were clearing to leave a very windy, but mostly dry day, with a few passing showers. Wind strengths peaked during the early afternoon, as the cold conveyor belt squeeze passed by.
