Sunny spells during the morning with a gradual build up of fair weather cloud. High and medium cloud layers steadily invaded from the south, becoming thick enough for rain by mid-afternoon. Rain became persistent and heavy during the evening and overnight, as a depression formed beneath a disrupting trough, with the rain then wrapping around this slow moving feature. Moderate S'ly winds veered NW'ly during the evening, and temperatures continued below the seasonal average.
