Daily Diary A blustery, showery day with overcast conditions at first quickly giving way to sunshine and heavy showers. Weak cold fronts came through during the morning, leaving an unstable N'ly flow associated with Storm Arwen (over the North Sea at 1200Z). Arwen brought exceptionally strong winds to E Scot and NE Eng, with a red Met Office warning issued. These winds then spread south and west, arriving here overnight, with gusts of 70-80mph around exposed coasts and just shy of 50mph here. Despite the wind, and the very cold feel, daytime temperatures actually made it to the average for the time of year following a mild and windy night.
