Daily Diary A cloudy and wet day as bands of rain associated with Storm Alex to the south moved north-west across the area. Some brightness developed for a time during the afternoon, with some brief sunny spells, but cloud increased later on again as further rain arrived. More widely across the south of England widely 30-50, locally 70-80mm of rain fell. Windy too, a strong NW becoming NE'ly wind following the passage of the rain.
