Daily Diary The drought broke overnight with the area of low pressure over the UK continuing to sink south, bringing rain and heavy showers (with some thunderstorms observed just offshore over the English Channel). Some rain here during the early morning, but cloud broke up a little during the afternoon to allow some sunshine to break through at times. Light winds overnight, but brisk N'ly flow developed on the backside of the low.
