Daily Diary A rather cloudy day, although some sunny spells did develop for a time during the morning before thickening cloud layers returned once again from the N and E. This associated with an area of low pressure and wrap around swathe of rain, enhanced by embedded elevated convection, which brought widely 40-50, locally 70mm of rainfall to a portion of Southern England. Severe storms broke out over the nearby continent, with a supercell observed at Bruges, Belgium. Closer to home, a moderate N to NE'ly wind, and temperatures a little below the seasonal average.
