Daily Diary Overnight rain, heavy at times, gradually cleared away, leaving a cloudy morning. Cloud gradually broke up with some good sunny spells developing during the afternoon. This helped to trigger some heavy showers, but these stayed just to the west. Clear spells overnight. Light NW'ly wind, temperatures around normal for the time of year. Further afield, heavy rain and showers developed quite widely across the UK, anchored by convergence in slack steering flow, with flooding across Central London in particular with 80 to very locally 100mm falling in just a couple of hours.
