Explosive cyclogenesis took place just to the N of the UK, with a Shapiro-Keyser style low realising a sting jet with gusts in excess of 100mph measured by rigs/ships W of Shetland. Quieter closer to home, cloudy with a few glimpses of brightness early on but cloud thickened once again during the afternoon to give some rain. Remaining very mild with a light S'ly wind.
