Daily Diary Following overnight rain, very strong winds associated with Storm Eunice moved through, the winds gradually veering from SW to NW as the cold conveyor and occlusion passed by. Sunny spells early morning, but a period of cloud and showers associated with the occlusion abruptly gave way to sunny spells and heavy showers of rain and hail in the polar air stream behind the occlusion. Winds gradually eased down through the day, and after a mild start, temperatures falling away to leave a fairly chilly night with average minima for mid-February. An additional note, following the passage of Eunice, the south facing windows were covered in dirt and sea-salt, carried all the way from the south coast!
