First proper windstorm of the Autumn affected the UK - here in mid-Devon skies were clear overnight, allowing a chilly start with fog by dawn. This slowly lifted with some glimpses of blue sky, but skies quickly became overcast as frontal cloud arrived and thickened from the west. A few hours of persistent rain followed, with a shallow moist zone and fairly humid conditions finally giving way to fresher Atlantic air as the cold front arrived around 1900Z. Clear spells developed the following night. Moderate becoming strong winds, temperatures a little below average.
